Botanicool is an invitation to discover the flora of our home on the Côte d’Azur and embark on an adventure from the orange groves of the Mediterranean to the leafy forests of the southern Alps.
It’s inspired by the plants that enliven every ride we take from our base in Nice, where the year-round sun and the combination of the sea and the mountains create a home for a stunning diversity of species.
The collection features illustrations of some of the characteristic species of Alpes-Maritimes. It consists of men’s and women’s road cycling jerseys – our classic Fleurette style – and Claudine, a relaxed short-sleeved gravel shirt. A casual T-shirt (“Anne”) and a silk scarf round out the offering.
Theme one features sweet oranges (Citrus Sinensis) and oleander (Nerium Oleander) flowers, both found on the coastal lowlands, while a second design features stone pines (Pinus Pinea) and chanterelle mushrooms (Cantharellus), as found in the mountains and upland valleys. The images were commissioned from Olga Pylaieva, a Ukranian botanical artist, and recall both the precision and beauty of nineteenth-century botanical drawings as well as classic floral fashion prints.
Botanicool reflects our riders’ focus on wellness and outdoor lifestyles as well as our deep concern over humanity’s impact on the natural environment. The Botanicool Fleurette jerseys are made with recycled polyester, and Café du Cycliste is committed to reducing its impact across all of its products and activities.
Said Rémi Clermont, Café du Cycliste founder and creative director: “It’s a scientific-inspired theme, but also a ride through a natural library, a living museum – knowing that the preservation of this deep diversity is of increasing importance both to us and future generations.”
Botanicool products are available at caféducycliste.com and selected retail partners around the world.
Anchored on the Côte d’Azur, Café du Cycliste is a French label dedicated to sharing a passion for cycling and the outdoors. Our technical and lifestyle products are predominantly made in Europe, using recycled and sustainable materials wherever possible. Each piece is designed to go further, move faster, and explore more. What began back in 2009 as a simple idea to do things differently has become a community of like-minded people who share the same values, beliefs, and a desire to be #foreveroutsiders.
