Café du Cycliste works with Nice non-profit ABI06 on its new upcycled Atelier collection, Cloudspotter League

Things are looking up with our Cloudspotter League Atelier capsule collection for Autumn/Winter 2024. The set consists of a liner-style sleeping bag, picnic blanket and cushion, all upcycled to reduce waste, and produced in conjunction with ABI06, a Nice-based organisation that helps vulnerable and marginalised people to find their footing in society and get back into work.

The Cloudspotter League collection promotes the inspiration we all can find in slowing down, getting comfortable and simply watching the clouds pass – the endlessly fascinating parade of ethereal shapes, colours and light that takes place over our heads.

The three upcycled products are practical, mindful and fun, and have an environmental and social conscience. Portable enough to carry on every hike, they encourage people to get outdoors and experience nature: to take everything in, lie down and ‘switch off’ (also the theme of Café du Cycliste’s wider Autumn/Winter 2024 collection).

The cushion (Mae) is made from checked fabric upcycled from our classic Solange winter jersey, and filled with offcuts and primaloft, while the blanket (Elie) has a soft brushed fabric on one side and a water- and abrasion-resistant fabric from the Zelie jacket on the other, to protect against the ground. Finally, Jude is a thin liner-like sleeping bag made with a variety of soft fabrics, including some in merino-wool blends.

In July 2024 Café du Cycliste became a certified B Corp organisation. Atelier is our limited-edition capsule that every season gives our designers the chance to let loose and produce one-off pieces inspired by flights of fancy and wistful dreams.

ABOUT ABI06

ABI06 is a charitable organisation that has worked to collect and redistribute clothing to people in needsince 1994. It also runs an atelier that upcycles clothes, helping people on the streets or on the fringes of society to reskill, reintegrate and find work. Café du Cycliste’s in-house production team worked extensively with the non-profit organisation, providing training, equipment and advice when developing and making the Cloudspotter League products, and also helped to forge links between ABI06 and the École de Condé, a Nice-based design and applied arts further education institution.
